Modern AGE

Overview

Modern AGE is a genre-toolkit tabletop roleplaying game covering everything from the Industrial Revolution to the near future, published by Green Ronin Publishing in 2018 and designed by a team credited as Matthew Dawkins, Meghan Fitzgerald, Sian Ingham, Steve Kenson, Alejandro Melchor, Chris Pramas, and Malcolm Sheppard. Rather than shipping with a fixed setting, it hands a table the rules to build gritty two-fisted action, pulp adventure, urban fantasy, or a dystopian near-future campaign from the same core book. The system is built on the
Adventure Game Engine (AGE) https://groupfinder.gg/library/adventure-game-engine-age
, the same engine Green Ronin uses for
Dragon Age https://groupfinder.gg/library/dragon-age-rpg
,
Fantasy AGE https://groupfinder.gg/library/fantasy-age
, and
Blue Rose https://groupfinder.gg/library/blue-rose-rpg
, built here as a fully classless implementation rather than the class-based approach those other lines use.

Description

Characters are built from backgrounds and life experience rather than a class list, advancing across 20 levels while a table decides for itself what kind of modern-ish game they're actually playing - a two-fisted pulp game, a grounded action thriller, an urban fantasy campaign with magic running underneath the modern world, or something further out toward science fiction.  The Game Master leans on the same optional Arcane and Psychic Power rules whether they're running secret agents, monster hunters, or conspiracy investigators, turning them on only for the campaigns that need them. It's built to be picked up by a group who already knows roughly what modern-day game they want to run and just needs a flexible, classless chassis to build it on, rather than a game with a setting of its own to sell.

Sanctum is a free, local-first campaign manager built for Dungeons & Dragons 5e Dungeon Masters. It brings every moving part of a campaign , characters and NPCs, a combat tracker, world maps, quests, factions, a story timeline, magic items, handouts and session notes , together in a single fast desktop app that runs entirely offline. There is no account, no cloud and no subscription: a campaign is simply a file on the DM's own machine, and it stays theirs. At the table, Sanctum is built for speed. Its combat tracker handles initiative order, conditions, concentration saves and a live combat log, with one-click import of 140+ SRD monsters. A command palette (Ctrl+K) jumps anywhere instantly, a built-in 5e rules reference is always a click away, and a separate live Player View can be sent to a second monitor or TV to show players exactly what they should see. Characters get full 5e sheets , abilities, skills, spells, currency, hit dice and rests . and DMs can import existing material from Markdown/Obsidian vaults or fillable character-sheet PDFs, then export printable sheets back out.

Saga20 Free Tools is a set of small utilities for D&D and TTRPGs, each built to clear one specific bottleneck at the table. Nothing asks for a login, nothing runs ads, and each one loads as its own page. The dice roller handles a d20 with advantage or disadvantage, applies the modifier, and rolls damage in the same click, with the full set from d4 to d100 and a typed input for things like 1d20 + 2d6. The Magic Item Price Calculator gives a fair gold value for any 5e item from its rarity and category, and shows the valid market range so a generous DM does not accidentally break the campaign economy. The Point Buy Calculator builds ability scores using point buy, the standard array, or rolled stats, with live modifiers under both the 2014 and 2024 rules. The rest follow the shape of a campaign. Before the first session, an agreement builder covers logistics, safety tools, and house rules, then exports to PDF, and a party connection generator ties the characters' backstories to each other. Mid-game there is a time manager for pacing and a wild magic surge table with 100 original effects. Afterwards the recap generator turns the night's highlights into cards worth sharing. There is also a shopkeeper generator, a magic item picker, and a party composition analyzer that says out loud whether anyone remembered to bring a healer. Best for any table wanting a quick tool or answer mid-session without making an account first.
