Traveller 2E (2016)

Overview

Traveller 2E is a sci-fi tabletop roleplaying game system, that was published in 2016 and updated in 2022, by Mongoose Publishing. It involves the characters adventuring through star systems, engaging in (space) exploration and engaging in battles both on ground and in space. The system it directly evolved from is classic
Traveller (1977)
Description The characers in Traveller can be humans, robots, aliens or of a genetically engineered species. Each character is distinguished by their occupation - whether they are a civilian, military, a noble, a young cadet or a veteran. Each type comes with their own strengths and weaknesses. To further expand on the sci-fi aspect of the game, some characters are prone to extra-sensory abilities, such as telekinesis, telepathy and others. System Overview & Key Features
Lifepath Character Creation When creating their character, players roll to determine their character's background, education, and career history. Characters will acquire skills, allies, enemies and physical injuries.
No Classes or Levels Characters do not have traditional classes, and they do not gain experience points to level up. Progression is entirely material and narrative. Characters improve by acquiring better gear, installing cybernetics, buying larger starships, and finding lucrative trade routes.
The Trade and Commerce System A massive part of the game involves interstellar economics. The rules provide deep, robust systems for buying speculative cargo on one planet and selling it at a profit on another. Players must factor in fuel costs, jump drive maintenance, and life support while managing their massive starship mortgage.
Lethal Combat Gunfights are incredibly dangerous as the characters have very low health pools. These are directly tied to their physical attributes like Endurance, Dexterity, and Strength. A single shot from a laser rifle can instantly incapacitate or kill a character, making armor and cover absolute necessities.
Hex Crawling and Subsectors The game provides incredible tools for the Game Master to procedurally generate entire sectors of space. Using a blank hex map and the core rulebook, you can roll up planetary environments, government types, law levels, and starport qualities to create a completely unique sandbox galaxy.

The Gig of a Lifetime. The Debt of a Century. You had the biggest sound in the sector. You had the swagger, the underground clout, and a booking agent who promised the stars. Now, you have a heavily customized tour ship, 75 mCr in crushing corporate debt, a terrifying repo crew breathing down your neck, and a career-ending plagiarism lawsuit waiting at your next port of call. Oh, and your magnum opus - The Infinity Suite, the most transendent piece of music the universe has ever almost heard - is currently a total trainwreck. Time to hit the road. Outrun the suits, charm the crowds across the Islands, and somehow finish the album before the repo men repossess your amplifiers. Now recruiting crew for a high-energy, chaotic campaign using Mongoose  Traveller 2nd Edition. Vibe: Interstellar rock and roll, corporate defiance, narrow escapes, and total musical disaster. System: MgT2e (no prior music or band experience required - just a willingness to roll dice and cause problems). Location: Home game near the Tukwila 1 line stop, every other Wednesday Pack your bags, tune your instruments, and don't look in the cargo hold - the repo guys are right behind you!

Hello, fellow gamers. My name is Marlon, but everyone calls me Jay-long story there that I won’t get into. Anyways, I’m the forever DM in my family, and I run weekly podcast games for my wife. We’ve designed a tabletop RPG called Prosperon: A Bio‑Cyberpunk RPG, and we’re actively looking for more playtesters. If that interests you, shoot me a message and we’ll make it happen. With that being said, I’m also an active player in several games. I’m currently in a Blades in the Dark campaign every Thursday, which is absolutely amazing, and I have a few open biweekly days where I can commit to another game-as long as it’s the right game, the right crew, and the right day and time. That’s all for now. Take care, and don’t forget-have fun at your table.

Greetings from the Midwest! I'm a veteran gamer with 40 years in the hobby, 34 of those behind the GM's screen off and on. I'm looking for players for anything besides D&D 5e. In the past I've run games in a variety of genres and systems including: D6 Star Wars, Call of Cthulhu (various editions), King Arthur Pendragon (4th edition), Star Trek (Last Unicorn Games and Modiphius editions), Traveller (Mongoose 2e), Beyond the Wall, Dragonbane, The One Ring, and others. My gaming style is story over rules with roleplaying and combat fairly balanced (50/50), depending on the group's responses and tendencies. I am willing to game with teens (13-18), but only with a gaming family member at the table for accountability all around. I will discuss lines, veils, and triggers with players before gameplay, preserving player privacy when and where necessary. I am very picky with storytelling and the type of game I run, and I do care about everybody - my players and myself - having a good time. So if you're looking to take a step into a wider universe, or even just beyond the dungeon, shoot me a message. You can read more about my gaming style and expectations here.

TTRPG

Ishanekon: World Shapers is the (probably) biggest free Indie TTRPG with over 2,500 character options. It has been mainly developed by Jan Luyken, aka Blaze Reason, with the aim of creating a game that can compete (if not surpass) the current biggest games on the market while remaining affordable for anyone. With its easily adaptable rules and wide range of options, from beginner-friendly to highly complex, it is designed to satisfy the needs of almost any story and play style. Description From epic fantasy and sci-fi to mundane humans facing everything from common threats to cosmic horror, Ishanekons: World Shapers’ modular design lets you easily adjust the rules to help you experience your stories. This game is designed with the idea that you bring the flavor, and the mechanics help you bring it to life. The 10 Archetypes with over 200 Sub-Archetypes, 1000+ Abilities, 600+ Talents, 300+ items and upgrades, and more allow you to build anything from a simple cat to a city-destroying kaiju. Role and complexity filters let you find what you need quickly while helping you avoid those features that might be too overwhelming for your liking.

TAS is a multi tool application for Mongoose Traveller 2E, that provides several options for players, GMs, and solo players. The Travellers app is designed to allow for guided or random character creation, rolling your own dice or letting the app roll them.  You can also track multiple characters across sub tabs, update their stats, add items and then save them, and share them with direct sharing links. They Shipyard app allows you to open and modify several classic Traveller ships, or design your own from scratch.  Save and export your ships as desired. The NPC Vault is a stripped down automated NPC creator that allows GMs to quickly create NPCs across different career archetypes, tech levels and experience levels, as well as mix archetypes.  Edit, save and export the NPCs as needed. /images/general-media/1786113792_7ncg53gt.webp   The Voidmapper tool shows you the 8x10 hex map. It lets you automatically generate a single world hex at random, a single sub sector or several sub sectors, or you can import the cannon sectors from travellermap.com.  Once you have imported your sectors, you can import ships from the Shipyard and add Characters from Travellers to that ship.  Each sector has the full trade and passenger information based on the system rules.  You can give your ship credits, track your in game trades, and passengers if your table wants to automate finding trade goods, and passengers and tracking what is on your ship and how much you spend and make.  You can also use this as a mini game to travel a system trading and trying to earn a profit.  Lastly each system has a savable notes section, random tables for encounters and details about the secondary worlds. /images/general-media/1786113857_yrNMc5pe.webp Lastly check the Ops Menu for the readme for each section for more detailed information and the up to date change log.
